Gena Showalter Fan Q/A & Wicked Nights Review

Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens,
Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless-
and if he isn't careful, he'll lose his wings.
But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions,
                                                                          at any cost...
until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure
                                                              he's never known before.

Accused of a crime she did not commit,

Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane.
Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her.
Zacharel is her only hope for survival,
but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation
                                                       or... her ultimate damnation?

First off I must say this cover is absolutely swoon worthy and I had to have it in paperback rather than Ebook to fully appreciate it. :)
Wicked Nights is the first book in the new series Angels of the Dark which is a spin off from The Lords of the Underworld series. I was so excited for Zacharel to get his own story because of the brief encounters we got in the LOD series, such a serious Warrior that was fully dedicated to his missions and was about emotional as a rock. In Wicked Nights Zacharel has been given an Angelic Army of "bad boys", these are Angels that have pushed the limits so far with their behaviors and acts against Humans that they are severely close to losing their wings. Zacharel is in charge of teaching them respect and that Humans are not to be harmed no matter how they might get in the way during war and to follow orders, something Zacharel has yet to learn himself. The hitch, whenever one of them kill a Human Zacharel takes the punishment.
Annabelle has been living in a institution for the Criminally Insane for the last 4 years, she was convicted of brutally murdering her parents  and no one believes that she's innocent or that a monster is to blame. To make matters worse ever since that monster killed her parents she now sees Monsters everywhere and they're always out for blood.
With Zacharel on a mission to destroy the Demons and Annabelle trying to protect herself from the monster in the institution their worlds are bound to collide.

Gena Showalter never fails to amaze me with the worlds that she weaves, the characters that pull our heart strings and the action that keeps us up to the wee hours in the morning. The way the plot thicken towards the end and the obstacles thrown in front of the characters will take you by surprise. The amount of depth each character posses tells me the rest of this series is going to be phenomenal and I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series called  Beauty Awakened, it will be one of  Zacharel's warriors story named Koldo.

A Favorite Quote from Zacharel
"I do not lie. There is no need. People lie because they worry over the consequences of admitting the truth. I worry over nothing. People lie because they wish to impress those around them. I seek to impress no one. You would be wise to remember that."

Weeks ago there was a post where fans could leave their burning Question for Gena and ten question have been chosen from the list! Thanks to everyone who stopped by and posted questions, I wish all could be answered but we don't want to take too much time away from Gena's writing!
Thanks so much to Gena for taking the time out of her busy schedule and for being here today and her amazing assistant Marie for all her help!

Christy Foster asked:
Q: Does your husband realize that you're as awesome as you truly are? And does he feel intimidated that you can write about such sexy, awesome men?
A: You know, since they are either spin offs of him or your inner-wish of men everywhere… hehe.  I have such a wonderful husband!  He’s amazingly supportive, and isn’t intimidated at all.  He’s quite proud of me, and talks me up to all his friends.

Christin asked
Q: In "The Darkest Surrender" it's mentioned that the only good thing about phoenixes is that ashes from the fires they create is so powerful that it can even restore life. Do I smell a plot twist of someone important dying now that Kaia has come into her phoenix abilities, and her being able to bring that someone back to life?
A: Well, that ability for the Phoenix comes with a terrible price.  To raise the dead is to enslave the person (or creature) that rises from the ashes, and Kaia would never want to do that to someone she loves.  But I can tell you that the Phoenix will show up in the Angels of the Dark series, and possibly Kane’s book.

Anonymous Question
Q: )I know writing is a huge part of your life, but do you ever dread having to write a book you have promised fans?
A:  I dreaded writing Paris’s book.  Honestly?  It was not a fun experience.  I questioned everything. I rewrote the first hundred pages four times.  In the back of my mind I kept thinking that he was the most beloved character and I might just be disappointing everyone.  In the end, I just had to let the story unfold the way Paris wanted it to unfold.

Anonymous Question
Q: Will you ever visit Atlantis again?
A:  One day I hope to write a few short stories and tie up all the loose ends.  It’s just finding the time!  I’m currently working on the second book in the Angels of the Dark series (Beauty Awakened, the sequel to Wicked Nights) and next up is Kane’s book (no title as of yet)  Then will come the second book in the White Rabbit Chronicles, Through the Zombieglass, the sequel to Alice in Zombieland.

Mariah25001 asked
Q: Will Galen have a book along with the other Lords? And also since Sienna said she knew how to get Baden back, will he get a book too?
A: Right now I have one more Lords of the Underworld book contracted and that belongs to Kane.  I don’t want to promise any others until they are official.  That way, I can’t get into trouble!

Neyra asked
Q: I know the Angels of the Dark series will focus more on redeeming the angels on the brink of losing their wings, but ultimately, will their stories interlace with the plot of the Lords? Will they reach the same conclusion is what I'm curious about. :) Thanks.
A:  I’m not sure!  A handful of Lords show up in Wicked Nights, and Paris and Zacharel (the hero) even have a small showdown.  William and Paris show up in Beauty Awakened, but other than that, there hasn’t been much crossover.  However, it is entirely possibly that the war brewing in the skies will spill into the world of the Lords.

Anonymous Question
Q: when will we be able to read more on the new demons i.e., Viola, Camden, Irish and Winter and will they get their own book?
A;  Hopefully in Kane’s book, which will be the next one I write.  I really loved that threesome, and want to delve deeper into their stories.

Megan asked
Q: I am absolutely DYING to see Torin end up with a woman, I know there are so many more to write about but PLEASE tell me Torin has a lady in his future?!?
A: I think of all the Lords, he deserves one the most!  I do have a lady in mind for Torin, yes!

Renee Ihrig asked
Q:  Have you always wanted to write, or was it just something you stumbled into?
A: I started writing in junior high, but I didn’t see writing as a career until a few years after high school—and dropping out of college three times.  By then I was reading all the time and my mind was swirling with stories of my own.  It was just a matter of sitting down and learning the ropes.

Melody Shamtoob asked
Q: Where do you get your inspiration from to write such interesting imaginary stories and unique characters?
A:  I thank the Lord ideas are always rising up and filling my head.  They can come from conversations I have with family members, things I see, things I hear or read.  Sometimes they come from dreams, or consume my mind as I’m just waking up.  Sometimes they come as I’m walking, just boom, there they are.
